we had a beautiful weekend. On Saturday afternoon we had training-lesson. Nina is still quite cautious with the trainer (a guy of 70 years) but he is the best trainer we have in the club. But she's doing better and better from one lesson to the nex. She is working quite concentrated and she's everybody's darling in the club.
Sunday morning it was again time to go on trailing.... She already knew what to do and she worked concentrated - until another dog passed and barked and two black birds were flying overhead. But soon after I had her back on trail. She's great and she has a lot of fun sniffing the grass with her long nose I will ask my boyfried next time we are going on trail to take some photos.
In the afternoon she and Leiko were enjoying the great weather we had. And they found a way in our neighbours garden . Nina didn't dare to come on my boyfriend's command. Instead of that she followed on the other side of the fence while I was going down the stairs to our house. And she found the hole in the fence herself and came running to me..... Unfortunately our neighbours garden is quite a mess and I don't know what those two dogs found but it smelled that breathtakingly awful - so they had a shower in the yard.... Nina enjoyed the warm water and being rubbed with dog's shampoo - after shaking her fur she looked like a little punk.....
In the evening both were so tired that they slept next to us on the sofa. I guess they dreamed about the beautiful weekend and the impressions they had from their activities....
We really love to have those two beloved dogs around us.
Your descriptions are so moving! And loving! We can feel the way you feel about your two darlings and the way the two precious ones enjoy their lives! It's so good to know that Nina has a real family with a wonderful supporting brother.
I only wish all dogs here had the same chance to be loved and pampered the way Nina and Leiko are!
She's about to trust us more and more. She's still kind of cautious and very sensitive to the chant in our voices but the progresses are still huge. We are so happy to have her around us.
She's doing well and every day she loses more of her caution and fears..... As soon as she hears me closing the door of the garage she starts to bark..... and as soon as I turn the key in the lock to open the door she walks down the stairs to say hello...... I really love her.
some news from our lady Nina. Unfortunately we had to skip some training lessons during the last 4 weeks and kept excercising at home. Yesterday we started taking lessons again and:
Nina trusts me! She is still cautious when walking to the site. Yesterday she just walked by my side. "sit" and "down" worked perfectly. "heel" was not that successful as she was more interested in Jule (my trainer's bordercollie which was also training on the site). She even took some pieces of saussage from the trainer as well as from the other people who were watching behind the fence. Even male people seem to be less threatening for her - luckily. On Tuesday we started training with the clicker for Leiko. Nina was that interested in what Leiko and me were doing so that I decided to train her also. She's doing very well in this - she's a clever girl with a huge will to please. We love her so much.
I will keep you updated, Mer & Teresa. Thanks for raising our beloved girl. Vera
Here in this country it's completely unusual to see that responsible care for a pet friend...I'm amazed at your dedication...I'm so moved by your love to this wonderful girl who always kept a distance from people- I was only a visitor on Teresa's farm where some of my sponsored dogs live . But I always found her one of the most wonderful original dogs...Something of a Collie...
I come here often to look for news about her and I'm so happy that you are all a happy family!
I met Nina at our dog-meeting on may 28th, she is still a little bit shy, but she was there with Leiko and all the other dogs, and I think it was o.k. for her. She really has a very nice family
Many kind regards
Annabel (I'm the one who took her from Porto to Germany)
